One of the gifts which the Holy Spirit has particularly cultivated in his Church is sacred music. It is a unique treasure, with its own singular and distinctive way of communicating. The Scriptures tell us much about its nature, and the Church across the ages has articulated a vision for its practice. This seminar, which will include both lecture and practicum, will examine the unique way in which music communicates, will survey the theology and history of sacred music, and will consider how we may hand it down to generations to come.
Mr. Hoyt is the organist and choirmaster at Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church in Tyler, Texas. He is an accomplished musician, composer, lecture, and author.
